Are you interested in being on the International Orientation and Mobility Online Symposium Planning Committee?

The time has come, my friends! It's time to start planning the next International Orientation and Mobility Online Symposium!

Are you interested in making a real difference in the world? Do you want to help students with visual impairments from all over the world? We urge you to apply to join the International Orientation and Mobility Online Symposium's Planning Committee.

**EDIT: Applications are currently CLOSED. We are currently gathering our people and will be in touch with everybody who applied very shortly. If you are outside of the United States and interested in helping us plan the 2019 International O&M Online Symposium, please send me an email at kassy@kassymaloney.com.

What are the requirements?

We are looking for motivated Orientation and Mobility Specialists to join our 2019 Planning Committee. We are looking for people from around the world to come together to make decisions regarding dates, presentation topics, and other planning details.

You must have a basic knowledge about technology and be able to access a video conference call and a private facebook planning group.

Since we are working with people from around the world, you must also be willing to meet either at night or early in the morning to accomodate for the different time zones. We also plan on having a private facebook group or other closed communication threads so we can talk easily.

We are looking for about 5- 8 people from all over the world.

How much work will be involved?

With this committee, you really get to focus on the fun stuff. Committee members will be asked to:

  • Meet once/month for about an hour on a Zoom video conference call. In January, we may need to meet more often.

  • Communicate as needed in our ongoing communication threads. (This will probably be a closed facebook group).

  • Decide on the symposium dates, the symposium agenda, presentation topics, and make other conference decisions.

  • Create handouts from the presentation slides. (Copy/Paste works great here!)

  • Attend the conference. You will be given a free pass to the symposium.

  • If we decide to do introductions for the presentations, you may be asked to handle a few of those.

  • You may also be asked to be an official session monitor and give the CEU code at the end of a session.

Allied Independence will:

  • Take care of all of the virtual tech stuff.

  • Meet with presenters so they feel comfortable with the video conferencing platform.

  • Handle all payments and contracts with the presenters.

  • Handle all CEU information for the participants.

What is the last day to apply?

We will be gathering our group until we have all 5 spots filled or until May 20, 2018, whichever comes first. If you are interested, fill out the form today!
